Recognizing pre-disease

Writer's picture: Wendy TrevarthenWendy Trevarthen

Chronic illness can creep up on you when you are least looking, or you may have an event that occurs that then identifies that you have a condition. We all want to be mindful of what to be aware of, without getting paranoid to try and detect these things early! Sometimes, as you will see, some of these early symptoms can be vague and across illnesses, so it’s important to know your own body, and trust your intuition that something is not right. If you need to get a second opinion, sometimes that is needed.

Pre-Diabetes Mellitus type 2

  • Increased thirst and/or frequency of urinating

  • Feeling tired or ill

  • Dry itchy skin

  • Weight Loss

  • Slow healing wounds

  • Loss of feeling or numbness in the toes/feet

Cancer

Renal insufficiency

  • Unintentional weight loss

  • Nausea, vomiting

  • Feeling generally unwell

  • Fatigue/headache

  • Generalized itching

Hypertension

  • Headaches

  • Visual disturbances

  • Nausea and vomiting

  • Low or no urine output

  • May have no symptoms and detected incidentally.

So, you see there is an overlap of some vague symptoms that could be put down to the flu, being stressed and overworked.

If in doubt, get it checked out.
